How You Can Help

Be Your Peoples’ Keeper

People need help, not judgment. When we show up for one another, with empathy and understanding, people don’t have to face their toughest moments alone. That’s why we offer tools, education, training, and support to help you help people before, during, and after moments of crisis. At its core, Be Your Peoples’ Keeper embodies a culture of stewardship, where purpose is lived through action, and success is measured by how well we care for and elevate each other. Becoming your peoples’ keeper is so important because the stakes are literally life and death.

We focus on the moments that matter most—before silence becomes tragedy. DKY operates as a connected system with two equal, reinforcing pillars. Together, they address risk before, during, and after a crisis, across workplace, home, and community settings.

  • DKY Workforce – reduces how often people reach crisis

  • DKY Community – reduces how deadly crises become

DKY Workforce

A public health, workplace safety, and community responsibility.

Built on the idea that suicide prevention starts in the workplace.

Suicide is among the top 10 leading causes of death, and work conditions have a profound effect on people’s well-being. Culture can also be an obstacle because it often rewards endurance over asking for help. So, for high-demand, high-pressure work environments, DKY Workforce embeds suicide prevention into everyday business operations. It aligns with safety, HR, and duty‑of‑care practices. That’s crucial because the risk of self-harm rises where work is physically demanding, safety‑critical, isolating, or unstable.

Many high-risk occupations are up to 5x more likely to lose life by suicide than the general population, including construction, oil and gas extraction, healthcare, and agriculture.

DKY Community

TALK • LISTEN • CONNECT

Helping people through moments of crisis takes all of us.

Most suicidal crises happen outside workplaces and clinics. That’s why DKY Community equips everyday people to respond safely when moments escalate—often within hours. We teach families, peers, and communities the framework TLC: Talk • Listen • Connect. TLC is not a clinical treatment program. It is a pragmatic moment-of-need framework with clear role boundaries and built-in protection for those offering support.

TALK: Speak directly and responsibly about suicide. Normalize checking in.

LISTEN: Listen for emotional pain. Avoid fixing, minimizing, or debating.

CONNECT: Stay present. Bridge to trusted people, 988, or emergency care. Follow up

In the near future, DKY Community will be launching the Stuart Platform, a place for the survivors of loved ones lost to suicide. It will provide opportunities to share testimonies & stories to provide connection and resources.

DKY Community

The purpose of DKY Community is to equip everyday people—family members, peers, coworkers, and community members—to respond safely and effectively during acute suicidal crisis episodes, which most often occur outside formal workplace or clinical systems.
